Coming Up for Air

It feels so good to have a little breathing room at work right now.  Not a lot but hopefully the rest of the year will be easier and I can catch up.  My desk looks like a paper tornado went through so I'm trying to organize one thing a day in that area because I may disappear soon and I'd like them to know I'm there and still pay me.   We actually have a half day tomorrow before leaving for a volunteer event at the Atlanta Food Bank and then a happy hour so I'm pretty excited about that. This week was so calm I actually made it to the gym instead of working out at home.  Snaps for me.

Ok...updates...

  • Because you care so much so far I have changed my name with the Social Security Office, the DMV, sent off my Passport, gone to the bank to change my accounts, the gym, and put in the request at work (thank goodness they handle my licenses!). I still have my bills, the library, and any other cards I hold let alone all my shopping accounts.  It may never end.
  • Since I love bandwagons and being late to parties I finally ordered this face mask to try when I had my last Amazon Prime haul. I read where a girl that lives in Chicago was getting facials prepping for her wedding and her girl swore by this. She looks fancy people.  Her facial routine probably cost as much as my wedding. I was extra excited about this because I usually don't do masks and they remind me of my childhood and having beauty night with Mom. Clearly I will wake up and not need wrinkle cream anymore...or maybe still...

  • It was Arnie's Gotcha Day anniversary yesterday.  Matt bought him a gigantic bone and to say thank you he threw up everywhere in the middle of the night.  I was against the bone so that meant I got out of carpet cleaning.
  • Read this and this last week while it rained.

Happy Wednesday! I'll work on some more interesting musings.

Life Updates {single gal edition}

I know what you're thinking -- you just got a life update from me.  But cohabitation adjustments are certainly not everything happening here.  I know I don't go into super detail but y'all know I worked for a small insurance company.  We were also working with a small group to get a start up business going to process claims 3rd party.  Well, the little company that was supposed to sustain us until we got the other stuff going has folded.  As of last Friday I am jobless.  I always knew this was a big risk.  So, it wasn't a total surprise, but I did think I would have more notice.  So that's that. Turns out I am on early vacation.

The last week went better than expected.  I filed for unemployment for the first time in my life, so that was an experience.  I imagine it will continue to be one.  I'd like to think I have a pretty good professional network built up in the industry so I'm trying not to totally FREAK OUT on 3 Putt on a daily basis.  Turns out its good that he is moving in.  Too bad he has a dead-beat fiance.  I kid. Sort of.  I have been a real gloomy grumpy person but I think that is mostly because of my nasty sinus infection.  So, I anticipate a hard few months, but I think we will be okay.  Monday was a hard day for me.  I am always working.  Have been for many years.

I think for now the big stressors will be: saving for the wedding, hoping we don't have to have any large/unexpected vet bills, and selling some of my fave jewelry and purses.  That kinda sucks but I have super good credit and I don't mess around with that crap.  And, I know that in time these things will come back to me.  This is temporary. (Hopefully super temporary.)

The good: I am excited to see me and 3 Putt work through this together, praying a lot, got a tax refund to tide me over, and having a bit of time off work since I have been working for years with little vacation.

Good thoughts are appreciated! Anyone been through this before? I guess the house will just be super sparkly clean all the time now.  Maybe I will get back in shape?

I'm Back! With Updates!

Oh, hey blog are you still there? I'm sorry to have seemingly abandoned you. In my dreams I had scheduled enough posts to get me through the two weeks while 3 Putt's parents were here and really I have no excuses for the week after that. Has the time change been hard on anyone else? Or is it just me?

Anyway. I wanted to update you all a bit on life. 3 Putt's parents were with us 2-3 nights for 2 weeks in a row while they were traveling to his mom's art exhibition in Colorado.  It was a definite whirlwind of me cleaning up the house and praying the dogs would behave all while working and trying not to freak out.  I truly don't think I could have wished for more in my heart for their visit. I was glad I had to work some so Matt could spend time alone with his parents but I also got to spend a good deal of time with them. I had never met his father before.  It really was charming to have them all at my house with their accents and easy going personalities -- I can see where 3 Putt gets his calm, easy going personality  traits.  They have dogs at home so it was nice that I didn't feel like I had to worry about the dogs jumping on people or being annoying in general. I rarely have guests so it actually was less stressful than I thought and truly enjoyable.

I have a few pictures! I managed to get a home cooked meal on the table one night and successfully host 3 Putt's mom for an afternoon of lunch and fun at The Housewife's place while the guys played golf. Pretty daunting to do a day alone with your boyfriends mom. Hopefully I passed all tests with flying colors.

Walking the greenway with the pups!

Fancy place settings for our dinner at home!

Maggie and Hadley hanging out at The Housewife's.

A grainy photo op from Bistro Niko where we had a quick Sunday date before 3 Putt's parents came in from Colorado. I was fresh from The Dry Bar and because of my hectic week that blowout was worth every penny.  To show you what I mean I will also show you my day 5 hair -- don't judge me for not washing but I had no time to workout that week so it held up really well. Ignore the work bathroom background.

I feel like 3 Putt has all the other good pics from their visit on his phone. After Christmas we are off to Scotland and Spain for an extended holiday with 3 Putt's family in late February.  Life seems big and exciting for 2014 already -- In a really good way.  3 Putt recently forwarded me a really sweet email his dad sent him once they got home.  It was a hectic two weeks but I ended it with a girls weekend at my place and my heart has been so full.

Feeling Good

It's been a really good week.  With all the work stress it's been hard to say this of late.  So definitely heaving a big sigh of relief here.

My new Sperry's came in the mail -- love my little Masters Shoes.  Now to break them in ASAP and find an outfit. Pray to the Little Baby Jesus that the weather is perfect that day.

I think a lot of my happiness kind of did come with shopping -- it just feels good.  I know, I know, all that shopping I wasn't supposed to do until April.  I do feel like I have been fairly responsible since January but I guess April approached and I went a little crazy.  On top of the Masters Shoes {totally needed those! Ok..maybe not..} Gilt had those awesome Red Carpet Manicure kits for $59 {regular price $79.99) so that just fell into my online shopping cart and then Lilly was on RueLaLa so I attempted an order at a new swimsuit.  Not sure I will like the suit so that may be returned but on top of my remaining bedroom items that were needed I feel like I have been on a spending spree.

I have also been reading more which always equals happiness.  I grabbed this on Amazon -- $3.00 for the Kindle version.  It's sort of a modern day Jane Eyre.  Not bad so far for the price.

It's been raining today but we have had a lot of sunshine lately so I will be happy with that.  Have an outdoor run under my belt for the week and plans for another run with The Housewife on Saturday -- life is as it should be I think.   If I can manage to keep up with my blogging duties for the week, rescue some dry cleaning, and make it to a Friday night with 3 Putt everything will be coming up roses.

How is your week?

Love you. Mean it.

Weekend Happenings and Birthday Prep

I hope everyone had a wonderful long (or wonderfully long) weekend.  I had to work on Monday -- but I needed a comp day to attend Little A's wedding as I am still building up PTO (lame) and it was OK because my manager let us go at 2 (yay!).  I had a great weekend even though it was short. I have done all my "pre" Birthday shopping, the philosophy behind this being that I would like to have said items around to wear during Birthday Season (read: the entire month of June).

So...Saturday I got up and had a coffee date with The Housewife since she can't run right now and then I relaxed and headed into the city for shop serious shopping.  They just opened the Lilly Pulitzer store in Phipps and I just had to run in a take a look! It was super cute but y'all, I really can't ignore all the Lilly stuff at Belk -- because Belk has great sales, and well, Lilly wasn't having any of that on Saturday (or probably ever for that matter).  Here are a few things I am prepping for Birthday Season:

Lilly Pulitzer Alaya Dress

Lilly Pulitzer Mimosa Skirt in Seersucker

(already worn it. love it. want to wear it every single day this summer. if i had thought enough to write a Monday Obsessions post, this would have been the feature)

Jack Rogers Navajo in Platinum

(note, these are en route from Piperlime so if I hate them I may return them. verdict pending.)

I also got in some serious pool time with my fave friend STV (sweet tea vodka), had two  dinners in the city with 3 Putt (Lord help me) at the Brookhaven Noche and back to the lovely patio at Varasano's (since repeating history is apparently a new theme with me right now) where he so eloquently stated that we were "seeing each other". Um, news to me. I have an idea how the story ends, but c'est la vie.  I stayed up very late on Sunday and I paid for it at work on Monday. I also ate lots of Fro Yo (duh).

This week and next week are all about gearing up for Little A's wedding.  You will all be happy to know that nothing has changed I am basically still completely and utterly undateable for any real event in my life as I am sitting pretty and alone for my entire trip to Savannah.  I was going to try to entertain you with a lovely post about how undateable I am but I am truly exhausted just thinking about it all. Not to worry, there is plenty of fun to be had. I have the luxury of staying with the sweet, lovely, and amazing bride on Friday night for our last slumber party as Single Gals.  Little A and I used to spend the night with each other in middle school and stay home on Friday nights playing Scrabble  (see, I was undateable then, too).  I am so lucky to have her as a friend and I cannot wait to see her walk down the aisle and glow all day about how gorgeous and perfect one of my very best friends is that day, and always.  My dress is at the cleaners, I will be working on her rehearsal bouquet of ribbons from her shower, and praying to Little Baby Jesus to seriously help my car pass emissions testing so I can legally drive it on my road trip.

Also - my spell check doesn't like the word "undateable". Let's call Webster and get it in the dictionary.  Single Gals need more words.  Because we are special. And sometimes undateable.

What did everyone else do for Memorial Day? I want to hear about all your fun!

Love you. Mean it.
