Monday Obsessions

Oh hey there! I'm trying to crawl back from the dead.  For real.  The job really is starting to feel "normal" even if a lot of my day to day still seems really challenging and hard because things just don't come very naturally to me yet.  I really miss blogging and sharing with y'all and now that I've finally crossed some more stuff off of the list for one of the smallest weddings ever I think I can resurface.

I figured we could start with some obsessions! I recently made myself revamp some of my makeup bag after holding off for what seemed like forever and I'm super pleased with two new things I am trying.

I'm super picky about my foundation because I need full coverage.  I've been getting by with some Revlon items and liked those okay -- but I was ready to bite the bullet for something better.  However, as I was looking at my basket and thinking of my budget I did a quick grab for this Sephora 10 Hour Wear Perfection Foundation.  I have to say -- I am SUPER impressed.  Definitely the coverage I want, a ton of colors, and lasts pretty much all day.  And for only $20 I may be a customer for life.

In my heart I really wanted to also get some Laura Mercier illuminating tinted moisturizer but damn it's $43.  I wish I had it.  I do.  And I was going to buy it anyway but then I saw this illuminizer.  I'm really pleased with this also and it's only $28.  It gives a really nice glow.  I have mixed with my foundation and used alone.

The last few weeks have also been awesome because Outlander finally started on Starz.  I've read the book and was so excited to see how this show turned out.  I have not been disappointed at all.  It's actually nice to watch some tv again! I never make time for tv during the week.  #claireandjamieforever

My parents got me an initial necklace for my birthday like this and I can't stop wearing it.  I feel like everyone else needs one now, too.  Especially for $38.

Since it's been so long since I have blogged I could probably keep going but I won't.  I've missed my little special outlet here.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Summer Reading

I have had a love of reading ever since I can remember. I worked hard every summer to get summer reading points and personal pan pizzas from Pizza Hut. We grew up reading R.L. Stein, The Babysitters Club, and Sweet Valley High. While I'm sure we watched plenty of TV when we were younger we also played outside quite often and read many books. I have books that are my favorites and ones that I will always read over and over again. July always reminds me of Harry Potter because I believe all the release dates for the new book were in July. My mom was always kind enough to pre-order copies for all three of us. I tend to re-read the 6th or 7th Harry Potter every July. In fact, I was returning home from my honeymoon and couldn't wait for my copy back home in the States, especially with such a long flight, and purchased the 5th book at the airport in London. The one published for UK has a different cover. I'm not sure I have even cracked the spine of my original 5th book since I had the UK copy. I love books that are a series, trilogy, etc. I suppose if I really love the book and the characters it's awesome that they continue in another book. So here are some summer read suggestions!

Single Gal has posted about this book before and I started it a few days ago. Love, love, LOVE! I mean, as long as you're into historical fiction and time traveling....which we are. It makes me a little sad it's on my kindle because I tend to want the books I adore on my bookshelves. Even though I do agree with Single Gal's point of such a large book being easier to tote around. It's also a series so even more points for this.

Also a series. I just finished the third book and it was wonderful. The second one was also very good but this one and the third one are my favorite. I lucked out and have been able to borrow each of these via my prime account on Amazon. I love a library I don't have to drive to or re-check out a book every two week. I have no time for that.

Susanna Kearsley has quickly become a favorite author of mine. I read this at the beach last summer which I had thankfully ordered it as an actual book because there was The Death of the Kindle. While I love my Kindle Paper White batteries do die and electronics can meet an untimely death. If you drop a book well, it just makes a loud noise. I want to order her new book The Firebird and The Winter Sea is an all time favorite.

Anyone reading any other good books you can send our way? Happy reading!

Checking In

I find 4 day work weeks super hectic and I don't know about you guys but I am straight exhausted from Labor Day.  I kinda felt like it was the perfect amount of busy paired with the perfect amount of relaxation and that small portion of work I had to do on Saturday.  But for some reason I am SO tired.  The bright side -- tomorrow is already hump day.  Boom.

I grabbed a few Instagrams from this weekend -- none of which are probably very good or adorable, but here you go.

Don't worry, we had lots of beers as well as the opportunity to drink water from this
cute jug for Friday happy hour in Roswell.
Don't even play.
Hai there. Busted out the monogrammed koozie for a fun day on the lake.

#1 wanted to help walk Hogie so we went up to see the horses and cows
at the front of the 'Hood.

I also reunited with Elise {post-beautiful baby C!} and we had a fabulous brunch at The Tavern and perused lots of great sales at Phipps Plaza.  I resisted a lot of stuff but did grab another Elsa blouse {see prior Monday Obsessions}. Its green and oh so beautiful.  If only someone would drop a new pair of Kendra Scott earrings in my lap. Preferably these --

Thank goodness for resisting sales because my car saga continues! Ugh.  Had a couple cranking/starting issues so I had the battery tested on the way home from work today and yep -- it was done for.  Goodbye to $130.  Guess it's a good thing I have no appetite these days.

{A few other things}

Adoring my Essie Watermelon for my manicure this week.  Hard times call for pretty, colored nails.

I may have some overrated anxiety about running into 3 Putt.  Maybe warranted. Maybe not.  But it's there.  I am not sure why.

I am reading {Outlander by Diana Gabaldon} and I am three-hundred-thousand-percent obsessed, y'all.  I have many sleepless nights ahead this week. It's good.  It has men with red hair.  Humor me.

I don't want to read any more tweets ever about another fashion week ever. Sars.

Only 2 weeks until vacay!!!

*******

Hope you are all enjoying the short week!
Love you. Mean it.
