Coffee Talk

Happy Sunday, folks! I'm sitting here admiring my freshly manicured nails, morning sunshine, two sweet pups, and drinking some much needed coffee (my dogs rise even earlier than I do).  I am actually excited that I have been back to some regular blogging and regular life.  I don't know what it was about the past week but things just sort of seemed to settle down and feel more "normal".  But I'm not even sure what changed.  I'd say that maybe I am getting more relaxed...but that's pretty much impossible.  Or it could be that I went a week without my nails painted and I was able to set the world right yesterday once I got my beauty routine back in action.

Let's get out a big hooray for The Housewife taking on widgets and HTML code to get us over to bloglovin' since google reader is dying sometime soon. The link should be over to the side -- we'll see y'all there!

I think Mom and Jer will truly be moving out sometime early this week.  I'm probably going to have some really unhappy dogs on my hands that were used to some company while I was at work.  I'll really be super sad when Mom takes her coffee maker home and the fact that my wine rack will be considerably empty.  Also, all my plants are infinitely happier when she and her green thumb are here.  Someone remind me to water everything regularly!

Rocky seems to really be settling in.  I guess my only advice to the person getting the second dog -- maybe wait until you can afford a housekeeper.  I'm hoping that after he is groomed later this week there will be less shedding.  But he has more hair than his 60 lb brother.  However, he remains sweet and obedient and doesn't eat much so he is staying.

I'm off for some Sunday fun -- dog walks, reading, catching up on blogs, maybe a little shopping and cooking.  What are y'all up to?

Love you. Mean it.

Living with Mom for a Month

Well, as of Friday Mom and Jer will have been here for a month.  Truth -- it really hasn't been all that bad at all.  So that's good.  They diligently check on the progress of their place every other day it seems like but no real progress seems to be made on the new floors, cabinets, dry wall.  I think the only day I nearly had a fit was Sunday.  I was super tired.  3 Putt had finally brought Hogan home and Rocky to my house for the first time so there were 6 mammals here in total which was super overwhelming. I worried for a minute that maybe this wasn't the place for Rocky -- but I am feeling better now.  I hadn't slept in my own bed for 5 nights, most nights I didn't get much sleep, I had to work the next day and I couldn't fall asleep until after 11.  I may have had a small fit on Jer about loud music outside.  Ewps.

So, on Monday I worked late, came home and took half a kolonopin, walked the dogs and went to bed super early.  It was heavenly.  And just what I needed.

I'm feeling a little better about life.  Jer does travel a lot and 3 Putt has been busy with work so it's been just me and mom the last two days with the dogs.   I had girls dinner last night and gave her some time alone.  Just give and take.  I will say that Mom is a great roommate.  She empties the dishwasher before I can even think about doing it.  She waters the plants (I mean - who is going to do that when she leaves?) and we get to sit out on the patio and have coffee a lot of mornings.  I know that it's hard for Jer because as he says he is "a man with no country" right now so I believe that he is fighting some grouchiness about that and truthfully, I would be too.  He has been a really good sport about walking dogs and picking up poop so lets all give him mad props for that.  Oh, and Mom is always up in the kitchen cooking all of the delicious things.  So I may ask her to stay for a while.

So, as it stands I am not sure how long they will be here.  No big fights yet.  Hopefully none will come!

Catching Up

Hi friends! Last week was really a whirlwind. Here are some photos and little blips about what has been going on! I was a bit absent last week but it was for a good cause -- I have a new furry friend in the house.  After I tried to rescue a pug the week before and he was found by his owner, a girl at my office said she knew someone that was giving her pug away because they could no longer afford to keep him.  I asked a lot of questions about the dog -- how is he with kids, other dogs, is he nice, etc.  At the end of the day, I couldn't have this little one go to the pound and I truly think it was a sign from Little Baby Jesus that I could finally have one after wanting one for so long.  You will find some photos of Rocky further down.  We are trying him out, and if it doesn't work out we will at least keep him here until we find the perfect home for him.

Also, Little A came in town on Thursday for the NKOTB concert and we had a super long girls weekend with her and E {plus a bridal shower Saturday that I had to go to} so I have barely looked up since last week.  You know you have a really decent and loving boyfriend on your hands when you drop not one, but two dogs off at his place for the weekend and he doesn't complain at all.

Breakfast Date at Buttermilk Kitchen with my favorite!

Lunchtime Pinkberry.

Lately I have needed a lot of Pinkberry in my life. Judge if you want.  I got a giant one for lunch the other day and it can truly heal almost any bad day.

Sweet Rocky!

Perching at 3 Putt's place.

blurry photos at New Kids.

I got like one blurry photo of me and Little A at the concert. Guess we were having too much fun to take a lot of pictures! Excuse my hair.  I have a new baby at home. There's not time to do it right now.

Late night stop at The Sky Lounge at the Glen Hotel in Atlanta.

"Who are these people and when can I go home?!"

Still experimenting with some new art for the bedroom makeover.  The Housewife got me several prints and we are leaning things on things trying to be "artsy" and "eclectic" and "stylish".  Mostly that's prob not working.  It might help if I turned the seam on that lamp shade to the back -- no?

Rocky has jokes.  He thinks he should sleep on 3 Putt's kitchen table.

We finally had some Sunday lounge time but I got edged off the sofa fairly quickly!

Have any of you brought a new dog into the house before? Mostly I am feeling really overwhelmed and insane but I think that is just because Mom and Jer are still here because their condo isn't finished yet so it just seems like there are 18 people her rather than just one new dog.  Instead of 3 of us there are 5.  And when 3 Putt is here there are 6 of us.

Monday Obsessions: Shoes + A Good Sale

It's not like any of these are really in the budget lately but I thought I'd give it a go at some regular programming.

I did a bad thing -- I started cruising the regular JCrew website rather than the more affordable Factory collection.  And I am going through a major shoe fetish.  I just want lots and lots of pretty shoes lately.  Especially some nice work shoes/dress shoes.

I need want all of these!

These JCrew Ankle-Cuff Pumps were originally $275 and are currently marked down to $199. You can also enter the code NEWSTYLE and get an additional 25% off your purchase.

JCrew Darby Loafer

I definitely wouldn't mind investing in these JCrew Darby Loafers at all.  Suede with piping! Originally $150 but they are marked down to $99 and you can take an extra 25% off with the NEWSTYLE code.

JCrew Mari Piped Suede Sandals

Birthday Recap!

So I don't know what The Housewife and I did right this year but we managed to pretty much have the best birthday we have had in a really long time. Finally! It kind of ended up being a long weekend with 3 Putt working crazy long hours and me getting so little sleep but all in all I would definitely say we entered 30 with success.

Present for The Housewife!

I had The Housewife's gift prepped early. I found her a gorgeous Kendra Scott bracelet for a killer deal online at Last Call and found a pretty statement necklace from Jcrew Factory. I hope she loves them!

We started the weekend off by having a girls only dinner at our fave Mexican place. I cannot tell you how much fun k had drinking margs and sitting around talking with so many of my very favorite ladies. I don't think I'll ever forget it. And I wish we could all do it every Friday.

A very poor shot of my birthday night outfit for Mexican.
Jcrew lace tee and the seersucker Lilly skirt.

The Housewife and I stupidly thought that we wouldn't overindulge on Friday night and planned on a run Saturday morning. That really just turned into me dragging my ass out of bed around 7 and taking some Starbucks over to The Housewife's along with Hogan for some time with the little ones and raiding her extra strength ibuprofen they gave her when she had the twins.

Hogan babysitting.

Tea Party.

We had an amazing lunch at Bistro Niko later that day with Mom before we went to Dry Bar. We had such a great time talking, drinking, laughing and eating on the patio.

Birthday Girls!
{note my new sunnies from 3 Putt! Love my Maui Jim Mavericks.}

Later that night The Housewife and I went out with our dudes in Roswell and had dinner at Table and Main. I wanted to try this place for a super long time and was so happy to finally eat there! Great food and we had a seriously awesome server. They have everyone sign a book before you leave and even let us bring in our own champagne for them to uncork even though they technically aren't supposed to allow that. (I know, we are HUGE rebels aren't we?)

I got so many wonderful little prezzies! Special and fun gifts from my girlfriends, a sweet phone case 3 Putt made with all my favorite things, art prints from The Housewife, etc. I had all the warm fuzzies that weekend for sure.

I am really confident my thirties are going to be awesome! Now if I can just find the time to get "twenty somethings" updated in that blog header...

Photo Purge

Hello friends! Life has been feeling a bit out of control with work and events and family gatherings and weddings and babies and birthdays. I always wish to "slow down" but I suppose I can always say "no" to activities and it is my suspicion that I put myself in these situations. How do you all prioritize your social calendar? I need help!

So here is a bit of catching up!

Found this recipe on https://smittenkitchen.com/ for a raspberry cake. This cake was so easy and delicious! Take it to a friend or just keep it for yourself!

Demanded some margs from 3 Putt before Mom and Jer moved in. (They are still with me for the time being...more on this later!)

Outfit item on high rotation - Lilly Pulitzer Seersucker mimosa skirt. Wouldn't be summer without this staple!

Don't think I ever put up this one of me And my beautiful little sister from her wedding Memorial Day weekend!

Also, look at the ever adorable Housewife and one of her perfectly dressed children.

I have a birthday weekend follow up coming but this week 3 Putt and I were able to visit his best friend who just had a son. 3 Putt is his Godfather and so proud. Here is little baby Jack!

That was a "melt your heart" day for sure. The man spent probably almost 2 hours driving me around Atlanta in 5 pm traffic trying to rescue a pug and then he hold babies and drives me to Pinkberry.

How is your summer? Is anyone else feeling the crazy like we are?!

Birthday Wishes: The Single Gal Edition

Just for a quick update -- I am currently over my pre-birthday crisis.  Mom and I are doing OK at the house, but she may be with me longer than expected.  And maybe her BF Jer will travel a bit and if not be here to keep Hogan company.

Since The Housewife has been keeping up with her little wish-list and I thought I would do the same.

My first item isn't technically a "wish" because I already ordered it.  But I have been looking for another ring to wear and wanting something from Gorjana for a while.  I purchased it from Gilt on sale so I don't feel too badly about the little splurge.

I also wouldn't hate it if some new sunnies fell out of the sky. I have been jeal of The Housewife's for way too long!

This will be a bit delayed, but sometime this month champs will be had with the girls.  It seem so long since we all got together for a weekend!

These Sofia cans seem perfect to drink poolside!

New tunes for my car!

The big stuff I want? Our girls dinner on Friday.  A rare double date with The Housewife and my brother-in-law.   A boozy lunch on the patio at Bistro Niko.  More time on the lake.   A long walk with 3 Putt and Hogan.  I'm ready to soak in my 30's.  It's good to look back and be super OK with how things have ended up so far.

Birthday Wants: Housewife Edition 2013

If I had my pick of getting some awesome gifts for my birthday this year this list would be it. Some of these are probably old hat to you but new to me. Y'all know the Single Gal has a shopping problem but I do not purchase too much for myself. Right now it's really that I have a formula and diaper problem....but I obviously wouldn't trade my sweeties for anything. I have enough. All I need is some Single Gal time, a mani/pedi, champagne in a pretty glass, and some chicken pie from my Mother-in-Law. It's my only request on my birthday that she make me this because she says it's labor intensive. Trust, it's like the most awesome chicken pot pie without the veggies (not that I have anything against veggies) that you will ever eat.

Cotton Snaps

I really want some of these CottonSnaps for my RayBans. They are constantly falling off if I need to put them on my head while at the pool or park with the girls. Some pink seersucker or classic gingham would be right up my alley....although I'd love to be more patriotic with the American Flag version.

I really need some stylish and comfortable flats to run around in when I'm not in my uniform workout gear since I chase kids, feed kids and diaper the little people all.day.long. I've been coveting these since Spring but with the big move it went to the back burner.

via Kendra Scott blog

I won't image every Kendra item I'd love this year but I will link to some. Bracelet. These earrings, this necklace.  I just love her stuff. Bangles. Ring. I'll stop now because I could do this all day. Obviously I'd love to be dripping in it like these gals.

#1 and I have been practicing the Birthday Song and I've been explaining Mom's birthday is Friday. She got a gift from Turtle's grandmother on Sunday and she thinks it's her birthday. Love her.

Bring it on 30!

XOXO

This and That

Hi all. Housewife here....checking in. I promise to work on a photo bomb post soon. We had the twins baptized this weekend and with last weekend being Memorial Day and L's wedding its been hectic. Turtle actually took a week off work because he was so busy at work when we moved we still had a laundry list of thing to get done that were house related.

#1 has actually been taking some naps a few times a week since Mother's Day. Holy miracle of miracles even though some are coma induced from going to the pool. But hey, I'll take it. #1 loves the water. She loves it so much and I thought it was a good idea to take a road trip tired toddler to Single Gal's pool Memorial Day. Y'all, she had the most epic melt down in front of Single Gal and all of her neighbors. We laughed at her but I think her neighbors must think she is a terrible child. She just did not want to get out.

I'm always thoroughly obsessed with Grand Slam tennis and have been watching non-stop. I have DirectTV now so I get that mix channel thing where I can watch all the time and choose from six courts or something. Team Federer. Love his new short hair.

Harper can sit up on her own now and I believe her general sentiment is that she thinks she's hot stuff. She is cutting her first tooth-which is crazy because #1 didn't get her first until 10 months.  Hadley crawls everywhere and appears to be getting ready to pull up. You can hardly keep hold of that girl, she is a mover and shaker. It's been very fun to watch them interact and play with each other. They steal toys and Harper will try to eat Hadley's feet or pull her diaper off.

I am starting to feel like I have time back for myself. I have been reading again and am taking some sewing orders from my friends customers. It feels like summer finally. So just looking forward to a few birthday celebrations coming up this week. I feel emotional about 30 but not because I feel like it  labels me as old. I guess because I feel good about all the things I have done?

Enjoy your week!

The Housewife.
