Feeling Good

It's been a really good week.  With all the work stress it's been hard to say this of late.  So definitely heaving a big sigh of relief here.

My new Sperry's came in the mail -- love my little Masters Shoes.  Now to break them in ASAP and find an outfit. Pray to the Little Baby Jesus that the weather is perfect that day.

 I think a lot of my happiness kind of did come with shopping -- it just feels good.  I know, I know, all that shopping I wasn't supposed to do until April.  I do feel like I have been fairly responsible since January but I guess April approached and I went a little crazy.  On top of the Masters Shoes {totally needed those! Ok..maybe not..} Gilt had those awesome Red Carpet Manicure kits for $59 {regular price $79.99) so that just fell into my online shopping cart and then Lilly was on RueLaLa so I attempted an order at a new swimsuit.  Not sure I will like the suit so that may be returned but on top of my remaining bedroom items that were needed I feel like I have been on a spending spree.

I have also been reading more which always equals happiness.  I grabbed this on Amazon -- $3.00 for the Kindle version.  It's sort of a modern day Jane Eyre.  Not bad so far for the price.

It's been raining today but we have had a lot of sunshine lately so I will be happy with that.  Have an outdoor run under my belt for the week and plans for another run with The Housewife on Saturday -- life is as it should be I think.   If I can manage to keep up with my blogging duties for the week, rescue some dry cleaning, and make it to a Friday night with 3 Putt everything will be coming up roses.

How is your week?

Bits of My Week {single gal edition}

Just a bit of this and that for y'all today!

Loving my little splurge for February -- the Forever 21 Heart Sweater. Only $18!

Sadly this item is no longer available.  Also, if it comes back in stock keep in mind I ordered a large and it fits me like a normal small. I wanted it to be big and slouch and cute, but it's just a regular sweater.

I also kind of wanted this one.  I realize some people might stand on the other side {especially since Valentine's Day is this week}.

Finished reading The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley.

Looking forward to brunch  on Sunday.  It will be my first time at Bistro Niko! Been dying to try this place for a while.

How is your week panning out?

{Smitten}

This morning I'd like to introduce you to a cookbook I've been dying over for a couple of months.  Actually, we can introduce a new blog while we are at it -- because The Smitten Kitchen has definitely found its way to my favorites bar.  I've been meaning to write about this for a while but couldn't because I was waiting to send this cookbook as a gift to Little {I know, I know, super late birthday, super late Christmas}.

Deb Perelman's blog is noted to feature recipes from items that most people actually have in their kitchen already.  Also, lots of praise from Pioneer Woman has been listed so it has to be good, right? Girl doesn't get those recipes pinned every 5 seconds for nothing.

I found The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook on Amazon for around $22 because it was on sale! If you have a chef in your life with a birthday coming up or want to send it to someone you love "just because" I highly recommend this one.

What are you cooking with these days?

Monday Obsessions: Death of a Kindle

Now, I know we have already professed our undying love for the Kindle (Amazon why are you SO genius?) -- but we had to have a funeral for The Housewife's this week.  She dropped it and totally broke it. Something about those pixels not working anymore.  So, since her Kindle is basically a total loss and needs replacement we started cruising all those new fangled models that are out.

The Housewife and I are kinda leaning towards this one:

One thing we liked about this one is that the light illuminates inward, rather than a backlight that shines in yours eyes.  It actually kind of makes me want to trade in my Kindle right now.  Except it's not broken.  And I'm poor.  It also claims badass resolution and a battery life of 8 weeks. But we all know how awesome battery life on frequently used electronics goes after a year or so.  Guess we will see what the reviews are.  Paperwhite isn't released until October 1st but it appears they are backordered until the 21st right now.   But someone buy one and let us know what you think of it because we may be putting one on our Christmas Lists.

The Kindle Paperwhite with special offers retails for $119 {no 3G either}. Not too bad when you think of how much I paid for mine and I don't have even have a light on it.

Happy Reading!
