Long Weekend

Happy Monday, everyone! I am finally coming to you from a place of happy {and rested}.   After working so much in January I took a long weekend and had plans of going to Savannah with Em to visit Little A and have an all out girls weekend.  Earlier last week we had some frantic texting from The Housewife stating she arranged childcare for #1, talked to the Turtle and was all set to party crash if she could bring the minis.  We obviously said yes and added 3 more to the party.

We left Saturday morning with The Housewife's minivan loaded down with stuff and our two extra girls to head down to Savannah.  The minis were sweet angels and slept dutifully on the road and we had tons of time for serious discussions and also tons of laughing/being ridiculous.  It was much needed for all of us I think!

This was a really special trip because it has been a while since the four of us all got together for a full weekend -- I think it hasn't been since before Little A got married last June {completely shameful}.   Also special -- we were able to go stay with Little A and her husband in their new home!  We lugged all of our crap in her house and spent the afternoon catching up, drinking wine, holding babies, and grabbing some pizza for dinner.  Little A is an incredible hostess and we wanted for nothing while we were there.  We tried a fairly new place in Savannah for early brunch called The Five Spot and really enjoyed our meal. I linked up their menus and have some pics I found online below. They also do lunch/dinner/drinks.

How cute is this place?

Since we had the minis we were obvs not staying for mimosas -- but problem solved because if anyone knows mimosas it's Little A and she was already prepped and ready for us to have unlimited at her place.  And truly that's what we did. Like, all the way up through the Super Bowl.  By the way -- how disappointing were most of the commercials? And how awesome was Beyonc e? And how many of you couldn't stay up to finish watching it because you drank unlimited mimosas all day?

We sadly got up this morning and had to hit the road again to head back to reality but it was so, so, fun and good for the soul.  I love my friends {and The Housewife}.

I promise to get back to regular blogging for February and get some real life updates to you.  For serious.

Love you. Mean it.

Weekend Re-Cap

I was originally going to throw some of this stuff into my Sunday post, but it seemed too long and unorganized.  Again, aside from that awful, awful GA game {we can add that to the ever growing list of things that I'm not over yet} there was a lot going on.

I finally caught up with a good friend from my old office who just came over to work at my new office with me {yay}.  We still sit by each other but work is so busy we just never get to sit down and talk.  We had a fabulous time and fabulous margs at my fave place PURE Taqueria.

Because the weather was going to be fabulous on Saturday and Big John hasn't winterized the boat yet me, Dad, and Pammi opted for a Champagne Breakfast Cruise on Lanier prior to #1's Birthday party.  Because it was so cool that morning I brought Hogan along for his very first boat ride! I did have to pick him up and put him in the boat because he was scared, but I think that he had a wonderful morning as our co-captain {and designated driver}.  It went really well until we were docking and he jumped out of the boat and tried to run away. Luckily he turned right so he was headed for a dead end and I was able to grab him on his way back.  Needless to say he got a long lecture about his life with me where he rides in boats loaded with champagne, has healthcare, plenty of prescription food, toys, and a warm dry place to sleep at night in my care.

So. Stinking. Cute.

I literally raced to The Housewife's house for #1's Birthday party right after {but an hour late. Oops.}.  I was supposed to make my popular party dip but only had time to buy artichoke dip at Publix because I stayed at happy hour too long Friday night and never made it to the grocery store.  {Sorry Housewife.  I got single probs.}

I didn't snap any great photos because I was toting around The Housewife's fancy camera in hopes of getting at least 5 good shots from all the birthday festivities of her and her family so she didn't have to worry about taking them and could be in the pictures as well.  We had a wonderful afternoon with family and friends!

A few other tidbits:

I did finally work out some of my own chambray style.  I like what happened here. Even if the photo isn't great quality {read: I have a job and a real life so no one follows me around to photograph my outfits like other blogs you read}.  I'm a big fan of that skirt and would also like to find something else to wear with it.

My Kendra Scott earrings that I ordered from a Gilt sale while on vacation arrived.  They are stunning.  Really gigantic, but stunning.  I have already had so many complete strangers stop me and ask where I got them.  I can't find them on the website currently, and I am not even sure what the style name is so I guess they were cleaning out some old inventory.  This is an Instagram because my other photo didn't really make the colors stand out.  They are purple and blue. And look much better in real life than this picture.

Weekend Recap

Happy Sunday everyone! This past week was filled with social engagements. Super fun stuff but I got in ONE workout and spent almost all my time away from work with friends...except that one day I was in bed with a migraine.

I actually had my first social engagement last Tuesday.  While this wasn't necessarily part of the weekend I wanted to throw it out there because one of my favorite Atlanta restaurants, Noche has 1/2 priced bottles of wine on Tuesdays.  I went out to catch up with C and we had a blast.  They have several locations around town and my bill for the night was insanely small when all was said and done. We left with my favorite doggy bag of all -- our leftover 2nd bottle of wine that we didn't finish.

Friday I went out with work friends for Happy Hour at PURE Taqueria because sometimes you need some more girl talk, cheese dip, and the absolute best margaritas on the planet.

Saturday morning I woke up for an early morning hair appointment.  Y'all -- I haven't had a damn haircut since March.  It was time.  And since I am in desperate need of some life changes what better thing to do that get a little color? I'll try to post some pics -- but I haven't had my hair colored in about 8 years so my adventure into ombre hair is really pretty subtle. Like you may notice if I told you to look closely.  But I adore it so I may go back for something more in a few weeks.  {Definitely try out my awesome hair place JH Design Studio. I love Whitney to death!}

Saturday night was seriously too much fun.  Em and I went to the Yacht Rock Revue Revival at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park.  It started at about 4 but we figured we wouldn't get there until a little bit before the headliners came on which really was a mistake.  Never in my life have I seen so many people at Park Tavern and never have I ever had so much fun at Park Tavern. Great mix of people of all age groups, wonderful people watching, and a seriously good band. I've been wanting to go to this event for a while but never made it last year. There were seriously so many people out that I legit had to park practically in front of an ex's house on Charles Allen Drive.  And then we promptly saw him walking down the street. NBD.

A good time was had by all.

I was the DD last night so fortunately I am not suffering from the massive hangover that most Atlantans are likely experiencing today from last night's party.  In light of that I'm going to try to get this house cleaned up, give myself a manicure, hit the gym, and read my book.

**side note -- I am not paid or given any perks for promoting locations, hair places, etc. these are just things I like.**

Love you. Mean it.

Buckhead Betty

Whew. I think I am finally recovering from the weekend--yes, I know it’s Wednesday. You will all be excited to know that it was full of fun stuff for The Housewife AND The Single Gal.  I was a great little Buckhead Betty--I practically lived right in the middle of the lovely city of Atlanta this weekend.

Let’s start off with tons of well wishes and a big “Congratulations” to our sweet, beautiful cousin and her new husband on their marriage! The whole family got together for the big celebration.  I stayed at the Four Seasons in Atlanta for the first time and it was beautiful.  Great service and great rooms--and everything right at our fingertips. Rehearsal dinner at The Capital City Club, ceremony at Peachtree Christian Church, and reception at Ansley Golf Club. Then I topped off my classiness with a trip to Phillips to see Britney Spears for good measure. You know, to bring me back to real life.

I thought I’d share some fun tidbits about the evening with you--you know, things I found to be humorous.  And some pictures!

(From Left to Right: Baby, Me, P, and The Housewife)

-First--my parents just booked one room for us which I requested so we could share the cost.  They book the one type of room The Four Seasons gave you the wedding rate for--so what do I see when I roll in? One king size bed. And a chaise lounge.  I ask my parents about this--Dad says he will sleep on the chaise (all 6 feet and 4 inches of the man).  Really? I tell Dad I will take the floor and that they are fired from any future planning of acommodations.

-As I am exiting the giant bus that was our mode of transportation to the church and to the reception in my heels and dress that would have exposed some part of my body were the wind to blow in the right direction, I jokingly tell P not to laugh if I fall out of the bus. Except--I pretty much did.  Large bruise on my forearm and boy would I have had the sads if I fell out and crushed the 5-piece Kate Spade place setting that was LB’s wedding gift.

-Much to my parents delight some stranger asked me to dance at the wedding (because that means we will be BF and GF from one dance...wait...).  I was a few adult bevs into the night and no one else asked except Big J (Dad) so I conceded.  He was okay and almost tall. I specifically ask said guy that we dance deep in the middle of the crowd to get away from my parents.  He didn’t really listen.  So we dance a bit. Then he says, “Um...was that your mom that just took a picture of us?”.  Yeah.  Yeah that’s her.  (I mean, that’s not embarrassing at all, right?)

-Reception was wonderful! Lots of dancing with the Sissies and all around great quality time with all my cousins, aunts, and uncles.

(Big J and P. They clean up nice!)

-So, after the bus takes us back some of my cousin’s and I go out on the town.  We hit up an Irish Pub place (why are these everywhere now?) and then we head back to hang out at the hotel.  When we were in my cousin’s suite I discover he has a sofa bed that will pull out--awesome sauce.  I found a bed.  I trot up to the 12th floor to give Big J the good news.

Big J is sleeping on the chaise, has the desk chair placed at the end as an extension because his legs are so long, and is covered up with his tuxedo bag. I wake him up to tell him that I am going to sleep in my cousin’s room and that he can get into bed.  This is when he says to me, “You don’t have to tell me where you’re going. I will see you tomorrow.” I don’t know what is more disturbing, that Dad thinks I would shack instead of stay with them or that he was seemingly giving me his blessing to do so.

I had a definite hangover and only got 5 hours of sleep at the most Saturday night.  Brunch at Buckhead Diner didn’t do much to help me feel better, but the fried chicken/biscuits/gravy were still amazing.  AND....Then I was back in the city again to meet some of the girls for dinner and drinks before the Britney Spears concert.  I mustered the energy for one beer and part of a vodka tonic. It just wasn’t happening.  But the show was super fun and the whole weekend was perfect which meant I was positively glowing on Monday morning despite being so tired I could have slept at my desk.
