Coffee Talk

Happy Sunday, folks! I'm sitting here admiring my freshly manicured nails, morning sunshine, two sweet pups, and drinking some much needed coffee (my dogs rise even earlier than I do).  I am actually excited that I have been back to some regular blogging and regular life.  I don't know what it was about the past week but things just sort of seemed to settle down and feel more "normal".  But I'm not even sure what changed.  I'd say that maybe I am getting more relaxed...but that's pretty much impossible.  Or it could be that I went a week without my nails painted and I was able to set the world right yesterday once I got my beauty routine back in action.

Let's get out a big hooray for The Housewife taking on widgets and HTML code to get us over to bloglovin' since google reader is dying sometime soon. The link should be over to the side -- we'll see y'all there!

I think Mom and Jer will truly be moving out sometime early this week.  I'm probably going to have some really unhappy dogs on my hands that were used to some company while I was at work.  I'll really be super sad when Mom takes her coffee maker home and the fact that my wine rack will be considerably empty.  Also, all my plants are infinitely happier when she and her green thumb are here.  Someone remind me to water everything regularly!

Rocky seems to really be settling in.  I guess my only advice to the person getting the second dog -- maybe wait until you can afford a housekeeper.  I'm hoping that after he is groomed later this week there will be less shedding.  But he has more hair than his 60 lb brother.  However, he remains sweet and obedient and doesn't eat much so he is staying.

I'm off for some Sunday fun -- dog walks, reading, catching up on blogs, maybe a little shopping and cooking.  What are y'all up to?

Love you. Mean it.

Weekend Re-Cap

I was originally going to throw some of this stuff into my Sunday post, but it seemed too long and unorganized.  Again, aside from that awful, awful GA game {we can add that to the ever growing list of things that I'm not over yet} there was a lot going on.

I finally caught up with a good friend from my old office who just came over to work at my new office with me {yay}.  We still sit by each other but work is so busy we just never get to sit down and talk.  We had a fabulous time and fabulous margs at my fave place PURE Taqueria.

Because the weather was going to be fabulous on Saturday and Big John hasn't winterized the boat yet me, Dad, and Pammi opted for a Champagne Breakfast Cruise on Lanier prior to #1's Birthday party.  Because it was so cool that morning I brought Hogan along for his very first boat ride! I did have to pick him up and put him in the boat because he was scared, but I think that he had a wonderful morning as our co-captain {and designated driver}.  It went really well until we were docking and he jumped out of the boat and tried to run away. Luckily he turned right so he was headed for a dead end and I was able to grab him on his way back.  Needless to say he got a long lecture about his life with me where he rides in boats loaded with champagne, has healthcare, plenty of prescription food, toys, and a warm dry place to sleep at night in my care.

So. Stinking. Cute.

I literally raced to The Housewife's house for #1's Birthday party right after {but an hour late. Oops.}.  I was supposed to make my popular party dip but only had time to buy artichoke dip at Publix because I stayed at happy hour too long Friday night and never made it to the grocery store.  {Sorry Housewife.  I got single probs.}

I didn't snap any great photos because I was toting around The Housewife's fancy camera in hopes of getting at least 5 good shots from all the birthday festivities of her and her family so she didn't have to worry about taking them and could be in the pictures as well.  We had a wonderful afternoon with family and friends!

A few other tidbits:

I did finally work out some of my own chambray style.  I like what happened here. Even if the photo isn't great quality {read: I have a job and a real life so no one follows me around to photograph my outfits like other blogs you read}.  I'm a big fan of that skirt and would also like to find something else to wear with it.

My Kendra Scott earrings that I ordered from a Gilt sale while on vacation arrived.  They are stunning.  Really gigantic, but stunning.  I have already had so many complete strangers stop me and ask where I got them.  I can't find them on the website currently, and I am not even sure what the style name is so I guess they were cleaning out some old inventory.  This is an Instagram because my other photo didn't really make the colors stand out.  They are purple and blue. And look much better in real life than this picture.

Monday Obsessions: Hogan Muffin

Y'all. I have to take Hogan to the doctor on Friday for a needle aspiration {sp?} on Friday.  He has a lump on the side of his back right toe that looks very suspicious to me.  Like I don't think it has always been there.  And if so, it was a lot smaller.  But maybe I am insane and it has been there all the time {I know I visited this subject a bit the other week}.  I'd like to think that I have some bit of a mother's instinct about my dog, though.  And you know what, the needle test doesn't even cost all that much and to me, it's worth it especially if it means peace of mind.  And all I know right now is that I don't like that lump.

If you are an animal lover or a love me just a little, just think some happy thoughts this week for the #1 obsession in life -- my sweet, sweet Hogan.  He is a sweet angel and the best dog I have ever, ever, ever had.  Probably ever will have.  He has been the biggest blessing I could ever think of because even on my worst day, I never feel alone.  Not even close.  And that's important when you are a Single Gal.

I love you, Hogie.  Mean it.

Dog Lady

Hi, I'm the Single Gal and I'm obsessed with my dog. But I'm sure you knew that.  Anyway, I scheduled a small family portrait session for myself and Sweet Hogan a few months ago and we had our shoot a little over a week ago and I have been dying for the proofs.  Seriously.  I thought I would die before I saw them.  I tried to show some of them to Hogan on my computer when I got home but he still just likes to do "dog stuff" like play with Nasty Squirrel.   And, I don't think he was cut out to be a model because poor guy slept for the entire afternoon once we got back from our adventure in photography.

Love and Sunshine

Our photographer was the lovely and talented Kaylan and she is based out of Atlanta.  She is super organized, totally nice, and gorgeous.  She was so nice to put up with my dog-lady self before I even had my morning coffee.

View here website {here}.  Stalk her fun {blog} like I do. "Like" her page on Facebook.  Check out all of her lovely work.  Hire her for goodness sake!

You can find lots of our proofs on her blog from {our session}, and I will leave you with a few of my favorites, even though I love them all.

That's right, Hogan can do "Blue Steel".

Besties.

Happy Tuesday Y'all! It's a bit gray in Georgia this week but I hope you find sunshine, love, and happiness in something before the week is over.

Write A Post, Help A Dog Campaign 2011

Hi Y'all! I saw this post go up on another blog I came across and just had to participate.  It only takes a few minutes to write a post and for each one the Pedigree Foundation will donate 20 pounds of food to a shelter.  This effort is to help raise awareness about the 4 million dogs that end up in shelters and breed rescue programs each year.   I am a late comer to this great use of social media but if you want to participate as well all blog posts are due before midnight tonight (September 3) so y'all hurry up and put down a few words.

This post is for my sweet Hogan, who brought more love into my home than it's ever known and also for The Housewife's sweet Bailey who is no longer with us but remembered all the time.

Here are the deets:

  • -- For each blog post mentioning the Pedigree Foundation from now until midnight ET on September 3, Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of its new dry Pedigree recipe food for dogs — its best recipe ever — to a shelter, because every dog deserves leading nutrition.
  • -- Feel free to make your post more visually appealing by using either or both of the two images seen in this post.
-- The Pedigree Foundation — a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization is committed to helping dogs by providing grants to shelters and rescues and encouraging dog adoption. This year the Foundation has already raised more than $376,570 against its goal of $1.5 million to carry out its work to fund grants that not only help shelters operate, but to further shelter innovations.

There should be a blog hop link in here with a code that will help lists all blogs that completed their post so they can keep track of them for donations!

Make sure you use the blog hop code thingymajig so they can keep track of your posts!

Wordless Wednesday From The Single Gal

Ok...maybe a few words.

Dinner! White beans, dried cranberries, avocado and balsamic vinaigrette.  It was okay. My avocado was a leetle too ripe.

New Running stuff! Shoes, Headsweats visor, and reflective Yankz because we have been running in the dark a lot.

The Housewife said Hogan was stinky.  In the tub he went.

A little happier.

New pretties from Ann Taylor.  Blue shirt for my photo shoot with Hogan coming up in October and finally a striped shirt that I really like. I had to jump that bandwagon.

Love you. Mean it.
