Sunday Randoms

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you are all with loved ones doing something fun today! I survived my first week at work and it was nothing out of the ordinary regarding trying to get logins, sending numerous IT tickets, setting up VM, and doing online corporate training videos.  I'm trying to relax tonight before licensing class (round two) starts Monday for the full week. 2014 is still throwing curve balls at me so even though work went really well it still seems like other areas of life are lagging behind in the "wonderful news" area. Also, I need some sleep.  As such, we are keeping Sunday reads light today!

First off -- JCrew Factory is seriously getting me this season.  I have been ordering a lot of their stuff for work and with the 50% off sale that goes through April 21st I may or may not have added some more items that are on the way here.   Sad story -- they had some striped bow pumps that were amazing but I can't even link a photo because they didn't have my size last night and I guess they are completely sold out.  BUT -- I have been searching for some metallic pumps and for 50% off I thought I could at least see if I could work these into some outfits.

JCrew Factory Isabelle Metallic Pumps $59.00

Here is some outfit inspiration I found on Pinterest:

Let's also note the weird come back of pull-on shorts which I feel is very 70's.  So obviously I'm on board.  They have solid pull-on shorts for $21.00 on the JCrew Factory site through tomorrow.

Outfit inspriation: Could this be me every time I go out this summer? The printed pull-on shorts from Factory were adorable but appear to be gone now. Sads.

Other things -- I've been binge reading YA Lit lately.  Definitely really enjoyed these two books that I got from the library this month! I'm actually dying to run back to the library to get the next in both of these series but I am making myself concentrate on studying for my license exam this next week (adult problems).

What are you ordering/wearing/reading/ lately?

Tuesday Obsessions

We missed Monday but I've come across some recent items that I feel are noteworthy so we are doing obsessions a day late.  We ended up in Savannah this weekend visiting our good friend so we are behind schedule.

My step mother gave me this sample the other day.  I applied it right after the shower and it's really good.  Went on easily, decent color, didn't make my hands look weird, doesn't smell bad.  I've been working it up for a wedding this weekend so my legs don't scare people.  I ordered the real size yesterday for $40.00.  Totally worth it because who knows when I will get to lay out with this crazy weather.  I ordered direct from Lancome this week with 10% back on ebates and a code for lots of samples.

Also with tanning gel season we get Jorts season.  I grabbed these on sale.  I sized up on purpose because I wanted to be able to breathe and relax in them and not have them tight.  I'm glad I did but the reg size probably woudl have fit okay too.  These are a steal for $25.00!

I can't link up my other obsession but I'm here to share that I've lived in my town forever and have neglected to get a library card.   I'm going to have a bit of a commute in the mornings and I went yesterday do register and checked out some books and an audio book! It was super exciting and fun.   I'm a nerd.

Happy Tuesday!

Monday Obsessions: Cargo Jacket

Good morning, everyone! I promise to get travel posts up super soon but I am finding comfort in routine and grasping for it lately because of the whole no job thing so we are sticking to schedule today.  Sorry for the lack of posts while I was gone but The Housewife was on dog duty and I understand that she had zero time to blog.  So here we are -- Monday.  Obsession time.

I originally thought I did an okay job of packing but I really kind of sucked at it.  By the middle of my trip I was sick of looking at my winter white coat in all my pictures and a bit sick of wearing it (obviously it was needed as February in Scotland so lots of cold and rain).  Finally made it to Glasgow and ran into H&M for a life saving update to my wardrobe -- the utility coat/cargo jacket.  For the great price of $39.95 you can have one, too.  And it will be a great spring transition item as well. I'm already picturing it with my white jeans...if only I could find them.

Things I really loved about this jacket:

- it has a high collar
-it has a gather in the waist at the back
-great structure and color
-you can roll up/cuff the sleeves easily

Looks I love:

Let's all go forth and user in some spring weather shall we?

Sunday Window Shopping

Is there anything greater than "window shopping" with your Sunday morning coffee? I don't think so.  We had a fabulous little shower here for my baby sister yesterday (cue Single Gal crazily mopping floors at 8 am on Saturday) who is expecting in March so I am seriously taking it easy today.  I have had a long week at work, a long week talking to God, a long week counting gratitudes and blessings, and trying not to worry about some future changes.   So let's slow it down this morning, shall we?

//pug sweatshirt from H&M//

This pug sweater from H&M! I die! I kind of wanted to beg 3 Putt for it for Valentine's Day but we are paying for our wedding in December and have our trip in two weeks so let's just keep it in the window.  3 Putt if you are reading I am super serious about that last statement, this isnt' a ploy.  I also LOVED this floral version, too! Wish I had for my trip! They are only $19.95.

GiGi New York extended their sale.  This uber large clutch in dark green -- swoon.  Down from $130 to $65.  It's kind of like they are giving them away.  And you can add a monogram.  What else are you waiting for? Order by Monday.

//J.Crew Lightweight Merino Tunic Sweater//

I love all tunics, lately. And J. Crew.  Kind of wanting this sweater in 3 different colors.  Love the bright yellow to move into spring. $88. Use code BRINGSPRING for extra 25% off.

This Lilly Pulitzer Robyn Short Sleeve dress is everything.  Need for summer.  I love that you can throw this on and feel completely put together for dinner, day festival, whatever.  Anything.  And the price point is awesome too -- $98.

None of these will be in my closet any time soon.  But it was fun to look!

Mid Week Round Up

Well, I had been really good on the no shopping thing but Black Friday and Cyber Monday did get me a little.  Dropped $45 online with Old Navy and finally found a decent camel coat thanks to a tweet from The Love List's Jess Graves for Cyber Monday where H&M was having 40% off.  In my dreams I ordered another beautiful coat from JCrew also...but that is not to be. (I mean really! The cost of some of them could get me halfway to Europe.)

Meet my new frand (well, frand that hasn't shipped yet). Regular price $79.95 with 40% off and I think free shipping.  It was probably the best deal  I would find on a camel coat and I got too scared to wait until after Christmas.  Let's hope it fits.  Sometimes I worry they run a bit small.  Don't let me be broken hearted next week when it arrives, Little Baby Jesus.

coat found here

I think I made a successful pot roast...I loosely went with this recipe from Martha Stewart on Sunday and had some pretty good results.  Confession, I pretty much used a ton of wine with a little water because I forgot to buy chicken stock and ain't nobody got time to go back to the store after you have already been.  I also skipped the onion and used lots of rosemary.  Do with that what you will.

I also finally took the time to upload some photos and order them form Shutterfly.  I've been shameful about sending off pics of me and 3 Putt, me and The Housewife, my mom, me and my little sis on her wedding day, etc.  It was time.  Most of my pictures are pretty outdated that I have floating around the house.

If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I did embrace my small Christmas tree on a table idea.  Working on this post.  Maybe I get The Housewife to bring her fancy camera over here.

Hope you aren't all getting dragged through the mud at work like I am this week.  Le sigh. It always happens after a long holiday weekend.  We are almost there!

Friday Five

Happy Friday, everyone! I have finally poured myself a well-deserved glass of wine, finally found a few quiet minutes to paint my toenails, and finally have some time to sit and finish my book tonight.  Things are looking up.  I thought it might be fun to try a "Friday Five" post -- I'm not sure if there is a technical definition of that type of post but we don't like to take ourselves too seriously here (cite photo of me from September balancing a coconut on my head).

1. It's clearly been a long, emotional week -- I saw these AE Jeggings were on sale from $49.99 to $29.99 and then they were including an extra 40% of the sale price.  I've been on the hunt for some skinny, distressed jeans so I dropped $19 in about 5 seconds to buy them. One problem -- these is a teeny bopper store and they only had sizes 6, 4, 0, and 00 left.  Obvs grabbed a 6 but let's wait for next weeks emotional update -- tears because pants don't fit.

2.  I don't normally have wine obsessions because I usually have a few brands that I like ranging from $6.99-$22.00 that can be found in most grocery stores.  That being said -- while we dined at The Great Southern Cafe in  Seaside we ordered a bottle of Eberle Cabernet Sauvignon that was just wonderful! I was happy to search and find that the bottles are not crazy expensive.

3.  ESPN Game Day is traveling to my beloved Athens, GA this weekend! I'm also excited that one of my favorite golfers and alumnae Bubba Watson will be one of the celebrity guests! Can't want to watch.  Hopefully the game will be just as enjoyable.

4. Time to grind and enjoy high mileage with The Housewife until our race.  We have our first 12 miler tomorrow morning.  (So probably should only have one glass of wine.

5. Someone also please come and stop me from wanting to eat turkey bacon at every meal.  You may have to pry it out of my hands.

Enjoy your weekend, loves!

Guest Bedroom Updates (the poor person version(

We all knew it was coming...The Housewife finally retrieved her guest furniture I was holding in my guest bedroom.  This finally meant getting my act together and assembling my guest bed and finding some bedding.

Instead of getting a hotel for his parents 3 Putt asked if they could use my guest room. No big. It's just in shambles right now.

First stop -- put together ikea bed all by myself.

Empty room!

Little helper.

No help.

Set out all the pieces. Stop Pug Child from eating them.

Almost had to stop because I couldn't hold the side beams up and screw them in at the same time. Enter basket from the bathroom! Single people can do furniture alone.

Ok so I did need help moving the  mattresses. But here was the bed with some old stuff thrown on it. I had high hopes of being able to afford a nice new duvet and some pillows from west elm but its not in the cards since my car broke.

But -- I randomly decided to peruse the home section at Target because I needed my third Euro pillow for my bed and I found a $70 Threshold duvet and shams marked down to $23.  I owed it to myself to take this home since I didn't totally hate it. Then I found some nice sheets marked down to $35. And then a big decorative pillow that was around $11.  Add in the cost of the bed and we have a makeover for just over $200.

I don't love it. But it's fine for now. Sars on the blurry phone pic.

Also moved the armoire because I am finally putting together my Ikea hack this week in my master bedroom. Yay!

I'm hoping I will be a good blogger and link up some of these items at a later time. But if you want deets you can comment and I will email you.

Feel free to find me some fun, tall nightstands if your are out and about. I don't even know where to begin on that.

Sunday Obsessions: Move Over Michael Kors

To start off, I know that Christmas was just a few days ago and I've already started lecturing myself about how I have everything I absolutely NEED and really need to buckle down on not shopping so much.  Also, since tomorrow is NYE we are doing Sunday Obsessions instead of Monday Obsessions. Don't be sad.

However, if you don't feel that way I wanted to share my new watch obsession:

La Mer wrap watches for Target!

I saw these while I did some last minute Christmas shopping and the prices were so good! They look just as good as the other ones to me.  I am really super in love with the leopard one. Which one do you love?  They are $39.99 {I did see some marked down to $29.99 online}.

Love you. Mean it.
